The department of Agriculture offers farmers a number of engineering services for water management. These services include:
- Establishment of an irrigation gravity system - engineers from the department will (a) conduct a site survey at the form; (b) prepare hydraulic gradient line (HGL) for pipes; (c) prepare the design of the gravity system; (d) prepare cost estimates; and (d) install pipes according to the design.
- Establishment of drip and sprinkler irrigation: services provided include (a) site assessment; (b) preparation of the irrigation design; (c) preparation of cost estimates; (d) installation of the system; (d) evaluation of the system; and (e) operation and maintenance of the system.
- Installation of Fertigation (added to irrigation systems for fertilisation): services provided include selection of the requisite equipment, calibration and installation of the system, and evaluation of the installed system.
